A brief mea culpa. I reread my post on Propaganda with some embarrassment. It sounded like I knew all the answers. In fact, I don't and possibly there is no single answer. One danger is that one becomes shrill and one-dimensional in the heat of battle. We all (myself included) need to take some care, while not becoming timid and wet.
Trevor Shaff has pointed out the problem with conducting debate in the open, so I suggest that we stick to the BCC column when engaged in public debate.
